As I understood from Brad Sams' Oct 12 post, I would need to use Windows 10 build 10565 to be able to use my Windows 7 Key for an active ted Clean Install. After all, if you are a valid Windows 7 or Windows 8 user with a valid key why not be able to use your Key to activate Using the Windows 7 or Windows 8 key is what I thought Microsoft should have offered all along. Paul Thurrott made on Oct 12 about using a Windowsħ Key to do a Clean Windows 10 Install to get an activated install.īrad Sams entitled Microsoft Has Released A New Build Of Windows 10, it was at that point that I decided to do a little more Internet searching and found a post by It looked like if I wanted Windows 10 I would need to spend $200 for a retail copy of Windows 10 Pro. Therefore, I was left with no way to upgrade or clean install Windows 10 to get The upgrade always looked like it was going to work but reboot always failed and returned the system back to Windows 7. TheirĮffort ending in the same failure that I had been getting. Microsoft then remoted into my Windows 7 system and tried to do the upgrade. I called Microsoft who confirmed that if I didn't enter a Key I would end up with an inactivated Windows 10 install which would expire in 30 days. Since I was taking advantage of the free upgrade Iĭidn't have a Windows 10 Key. So I tried the clean install and was asked to enter a Windows 10 Key. Having no success with the In-place Upgrade so I decided I would need to do a clean install to get Windows 10 installed and activated. I was using the upgrade method to avoid needing to reload my software and most importantly take advantage of the free upgrade for activation of Windows 10. I was having no success trying to do an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. I have never used one and you use at your own risk! You can search the net and download a watermark disabler if you really want to. Hi Nikola, it is not a warning just a label letting you know which build you are on.
